History

In 2025, Glenn School for Young Children proudly marks its 75th anniversary. Since 1950, Glenn School has been dedicated to nurturing the hearts and minds of young children, beginning as a small kindergarten founded by committed members of Emory University’s Glenn Memorial Methodist Church.

Over the decades, the school expanded to include a Mother’s Morning Out program and eventually evolved into the full preschool and kindergarten program it is today. Throughout this growth, Glenn has remained a joyful, supportive community where children are encouraged to thrive, and families are valued partners in the learning journey.

Glenn School continues its close and meaningful relationship with its founding church, Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, sharing a deep commitment to inclusion. Guided by the church’s welcoming statement, we embrace all individuals regardless of race, culture, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or socioeconomic status, education, political affiliation, physical or mental ability, or faith background. The school is overseen by the Glenn School Board, which collaborates with the Glenn Memorial UMC Church Council to uphold the mission, vision, and values that have defined Glenn School for generations.

At Glenn, we believe a school is more than a place of early education—it is a foundation for family connection, community, and lifelong learning. We are honored to celebrate 75 years of service and look forward to continuing this important work in the years ahead.
